The Lopez is an authentically old-school penny loafer. It is a model that remains unchanged since its creation in 1945; with its generous round toe and high walled style it is the epitome of ivy-league cool. The characteristic slit strap design originated in the 1930s as a stylistic twist on the standard loafer; many people would store a penny in the slit in case they needed to make an emergency phone call. Crafted on John Lobb’s archival 4395 last, the Lopez has a generous fit with a rounded yet deceptively sleek toe. 2015 marked the 70th anniversary of this wonderful shoe, proof that it is a style impervious to the vicissitudes of fashion.

Founded in London in 1866, John Lobb has been making some of the world’s finest shoes for almost 150 years. This rich heritage is founded upon a relentless commitment to expert craftsmanship and timeless design. It takes 190 individual steps to make a pair of John Lobb shoes, a process that proves the company’s devotion to excellence.
